Rainy Day Walk to the Falls

Rainy Day Walk to the Falls

I actually talked my wife into joining us on a short hike down to The Falls in Granite Falls. It was one of the stormiest days of the year, so I thought it would be great to check out how much water was pushing over.

This is a good spot to check out in every season and I sometimes forget about it myself. The girls didn't want to go as soon as I told them to grab their rain coats. We had just gotten rained out the weekend before so they were on full alert.

My wife had never been down there so she was in awe of the continuous falls and huge cliffs of the gorge. The girls were listening to the roar as we went down the staircase, which was extra slippery today.

There was a new interpretive sign that had been installed showing some facts and history about the fish ladder. My girls always love to check out these signs. They also couldn't stop looking down the grates to the fish ladder.

The water was pretty high today, but I had seen it higher before. We explored the area safely, not ignoring the keep out and no trespassing signs.

The walk up to the car is not as easy as the way down, but overall it is an easy walk. If you haven't stopped before, then you should. If you have stopped, then consider stopping and checking out the falls in different seasons!
