PARK BUTTE

Baker Lake Area

Miles: 7.5 roundtrip

Elevation: 2,200 feet

The first three quarter miles, you first cross a bridge and then stay left at a junction with the Scott Paul Trail. Following Schrieber Meadows to a sometimes rough crossing of Rocky River. This is a great spot to turn around with kids. Beyond the creek, you enter the old growth forrest and switchback to intersect the Scott Paul Trail again. Now past the halfway point of the hike, staying left, you enter Morovitz Meadow. Stay to the left again at a junction with Railroad Grade Trail and now lose a bit of elevation to Bell Pass Trail. During a level section the path, you pass above Pocket Lake. The final half mile to the lookout is steep, but worth it!

  • Get there: Take Highway 20 east from I-5 passing through Sedro-Woolley to the Baker Lake Highway just beyond milepost 82. Turn left after about 14 miles onto FS rd 12 and turn right onto FS rd 13, about 3.5 miles up. The trailhead is just over five miles at the end of this road. There are an abundance of parking and bathrooms.
